William Werner is now one of my heroes! I spent a few days with him working on this video project for his shop Craftsman and Wolves and though we are in completely different fields I came away inspired and energized, especially after our interview session. This guy has got passion, endurance, and imagination for days. Walk into Craftsman and Wolves, try anything… a chocolate croissant, a loaf of bread, a cube cake… and you can just taste it.
I am particularly inspired by how articulately he expresses his aesthetic through everything CAW puts forth. From the design of the shop, to the packaging, and the intricate pastry, the vision is clear and consistent. Surprisingly he is a little shy to call himself an artist, but anyone that blazes a trail this deep through self discovery and learns how to communicate their findings in such a precise manor, couldn’t be called cant be anything but. Despite the press and praise William is refreshingly humble, unsatisfied and still after it.
Of course much credit is also due to the talented folks he surounds himself with. The CAW and Outfit Genaric staff, some of which I got to film durning this project, are fantastic and equally talented. A big thanks to all of them for their participation and support.
